Reminiscent of the true essence of Coco CHANEL herself, this Sautoir is as classic as Chanel jewelry gets.
This CHANEL bezel-set necklace features lustrous baroque faux pearls that are interspersed with gold-tone link-chains and disks of 1" (2.5 cm) ruby-red crystals. Each of the disks is framed in gold-tone metal and smooth polished on both sides for both gleam and glam. The crystals are visible from both sides so no worries if you’re the active sort (dancing, anyone?).
Because of its amazing length – 68 1/2" (174 cm) you can wear the necklace as a solo statement piece for simple elegance. It can comfortably be doubled around the neck. It can also be paired with fancy chains, matching beaded necklaces of various lengths, or pearl sautoirs to create looks both demure and dramatic.
Comes from the 1983 Collection - the most popular time for layered pearl and crystal necklaces - worn as Madame CHANEL herself wore them and intended them to be worn.
Marked "Chanel 1983 - Made in France" near the closure.
Very good vintage condition with light tarnish on the frame of the red crystals.
